Festive Makeup Ideas for a Low-Key Halloween Look
Posted on October 17 2017
Don’t want to rock a costume, but still looking to get in on the Halloween fun? We’ve got you covered.
Nothing screams spooky—pun intended—like a dash of orange and black on your eyes or a splash of purple on your lips. This ghoulish holiday is the perfect time to experiment with different products and out-of-the-box colors, as even the craziest looks will appear normal. And bonus: If your makeup game is strong, you don’t even need to dress up to look festive.
Check out our low-key Halloween beauty ideas below.
Opt for a wicked cat-eye. Nothing says “going out on Halloween” like an expertly lined eye. Our Precision Liquid Liner comes in two variations of black—Black Pearl (pearlescent finish) or Raven (matte finish)—that will help you craft a precise cat-eye. For something more daring, use Amethyst (a deep shimmering orchid) instead. If you don’t have a steady hand, go for our traditional Eyeliner—we have Black, Green, Grape, White, and more festive shades. Add a few coats of black Mascara and your wicked peepers are good to go.
Paint on some spirited polish. Spooky nail art is encouraged, but not required. Go simple with a bright orange manicure using our "10 free" Nail Polish in Sunrise—a bold orange gloss. Add our jet black Texas Tea, deep red Lovestruck, and ghostly white Iceberg to complete your haunted digits.
Go bold on your lids and cheeks. Orange and black aren’t shadow colors that most of us use on a regular basis, but Halloween provides the perfect excuse to break them out. Combine Graffiti (a vibrant shimmering orange), Blackout (a matte carbon black), and Crush (a velvet charcoal lavender) to create a standout Halloween eye. Keep the orange theme going by adding a less intense pop to your cheeks with our Blush in Apricot (a warm peach) or Sunset (a shimmering tangerine).
Try out a dark statement lip. Anything wild is on-trend for Halloween, but purples and oranges are definitely favorites. Our ultra hydrating Lipstick drenches lips in rich color that will last all night long—go for Siren (a frosted coral), Ultra Violet (an opalescent purple), Femme Fatale (deep red wine), Coral (a vibrant orange), or Meritage (a full bodied wine). Another option? Take a cue from Morticia Addams and wear blood red—our shades Pomegranate (a deep red) or Vino De Amor (a bright red wine) will do the trick.
