Trend To Try: Overlined + Glossy Lips
Posted on October 26 2022
Glazed brownie lips have entered the chat.
One of our favorite low-key lip techniques for fall and winter, it simply involves lining your lips with a deep shade, blending, and applying gloss over the top.
And while this makeup trend is nothing new—it was frequently spotted in the ‘90s and ‘00s on celebrities like Beyoncé, Halle Berry, Aaliyah, Jennifer Lopez, Gabrielle Union, and Salma Hayek—it’s definitely having a resurgence.
Start by choosing a lip liner shade (we suggest a color in the brown family like our Classic Lip Liner in Chestnut or Lip Pencil in Cappuccino) that’s two shades deeper than your complexion. Use it to slightly overline your lips, going over the color as needed until you’ve reached your desired pigment intensity. Add a little extra depth in the center of your top and bottom lip before lightly tapping the product into your pout to create a more blurred and blended effect. If it’s not quite dark enough, repeat the process a second time. Finish your look off by applying a liberal coat of clear lip gloss—try our Sheer Gloss in Crystal—over the top.
The end result? A super flattering contour that highlights the silhouette of your lips no matter what their size or shape.
