The Ultimate Guide To Color Correcting
Posted on July 20 2022
Kiss discoloration goodbye.
When concealer and foundation won’t cut it, our Color Correcting Cream is the answer. And while it can seem a little complicated at first, it’s really quite simple when it comes down to it. Think about the color wheel and how colors that are the opposite of one another cancel each other out—the same concept applies when it comes to color correcting with makeup. Think of the color of the skin imperfection that you want to cover up—dark circles, red spots, hyperpigmentation, etc.—and reach for a color corrector in a shade that can cancel out that hue.
The result is even, natural looking skin. Our dual-purpose creams not only correct color imperfections to give you even, natural looking skin but they're also infused with aloe, jojoba seed oil, avocado extract, and sunflower to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and deep pores for a smooth, clear complexion.
Not sure where to start? Check out our breakdown of what each shade of our Color Correcting Cream does and then a step-by-step guide on how to use it below.
Bye Bye Redness (green): neutralizes red tones and corrects blemishes, rosacea, broken capillaries, and sunburn
Bright Now (purple): neutralizes yellow tones and corrects and brightens sallow complexions
Get Glowing (pink): brightens, highlights, and hides fatigue as it catches natural light and adds color to dull skin
Wake Me Up (yellow): neutralizes purple and brown tones and conceals bruises, hyperpigmentation, under-eye circles, and mild red tones
Step-By-Step Guide to Color Correcting
1. Apply Color Corrector
After finishing your skin care routine and applying moisturizer, apply your choice of Color Correcting Cream—start with a light layer and build up to your desired amount of coverage using your fingertip or a makeup sponge to blend.
2. Apply Foundation and/or Concealer
If you typically wear foundation, apply it as you normally would—both liquid and powder options work. If needed, further disguise imperfections or brighten your complexion by applying concealer.
3. Finish and Set Your Makeup
Now that your skin is even, finish applying the rest of your makeup. Top it off with a setting spray (for a dewy finish) or a setting powder (for a matte finish)—we prefer our Sea Mineral Hydra Mist or Mosaic Illuminator.
