7 Tricks To Make Your Eyes Look Instantly Brighter
Posted on August 07 2018
White eyeliner, the right shade of concealer, and a touch of shimmer are just a few of the simple tweaks you can do to your makeup routine that will make your eyes appear instantly bigger and brighter.
Check out all of our favorite eye-opening tricks below.
Try White Eyeliner. The easiest way to awaken eyes is with pure white eyeliner, like our shade Snow. Apply it to your waterline and the inner corners of your peepers for a brighter look—make sure to slightly blend it so it doesn’t appear too stark. If you’re feeling extra daring, use the pencil to create a full-on white cat-eye.
Opt For Concealer. Don’t use a powder or liquid foundation around your eye area. Keep it light by counteracting redness and dark circles with a concealer that has pink or yellow undertones.
Shape Your Brows. Neatly groomed and arched eyebrows create a flattering frame for your peepers. Clean up the area above and below the brows by removing strays hairs with Tweezers (make sure not to overpluck), and then fill in gaps with our Cream Brow Pencil. Finish by brushing your eyebrows up and over with the spooley brush for a defined, clean shape.
Lighten Your Waterline. Avoid wearing dark eyeliner colors—like black or brown—on your waterline. Instead, cover up the pink or red skin on your lower lash line with a lavender, green, gold, or bronze eyeliner. This will lighten and brighten your eye area without making your eyes look smaller the way that a dark eyeliner would. Try our shades Iguana, or Indigo.
Play Up Your Eye Color. Reach for eyeshadow shades that contrast and accentuate your specific eye color to make them pop. If you have blue eyes choose warm colors like bronze, terracotta brown, and deep grey; if you have green eyes go for purple hues like violet and mauve; if you have brown eyes use neutral tints like gold, salmon, and silver; and if you have hazel eyes choose a mix of neutral and purple colors.
Add Some Shimmer. No need to go overboard on the sparkle. Simply apply your favorite highlighter or shimmering eyeshadow to the inner corner of your eyes—pick a shade that’s close to your skin tone. Using product only on this area will accent your peepers, making them appear bigger and brighter.
Volumize Your Lashes. Apply two coats of mascara to your upper and lower lashes to lengthen and volumize them. For added drama, use our Luxe Mascara in Clear as a base coat and finishing coat. If your lashes are straight, they can cast a shadow on the eye area—so don’t forget to take that extra step to curl them.
