Our 6 Favorite Fall Makeup Trends
Posted on September 12 2017

Forget no-makeup makeup, this season is all about bold originality. While a lot of the beauty looks that designers sent down the runway were a bit over-the-top for the office, there were definitely plenty of options you can wear in real life – or ways to tone down the outright crazy ones. The takeaway? Don’t be shy with your cosmetics.
Check out the best fall beauty trends below.
Color-Blocked Eyes. Want a look that pops? Try color-blocked lids. This bold trend was seen on a slew of runways, where makeup artists combined contrasting hues like black and red or blue and pink. For something more wearable, try blocking contrasting hues from our Wanderlust Palette or go for something softer with the dreamy pastels in our Aura Palette.
Artsy Black Liner. This season’s take on eyeliner was anything-but-basic. Models wore unique, not-trying-to-be-perfect looks that colored outside the lines – literally. Trace it totally around your eyes, use a heavy-hand, create artful smudges, scribble it on your lids, or smear it on with your fingers. Our Liquid Eyeliner in Raven is all you need to get started.
Extreme Manicures. Nail art made a huge comeback on the catwalk, but it was more extreme than in years past. From crystals to studs, wild prints, and beyond, these manicures begged to be seen. We’re personally feeling all shades of purple – found in our Amethyst Dream Nail Collection – but you can truly go in any direction. Get everything you need to create a long-lasting manicure, go wild with our wide array of 10-free polishes, and get to bedazzling.
Messy Dark Lips. If you choose to rock only one shade of lipstick this fall, go for a deep berry like Meritage, Clay, Currant, Femme Fatale, Rapture or Chocolate Cherry. The favorite seasonal hue was spotted on dozens of runways, but this wasn’t your average dark pout – makeup artists blurred the lines by forgoing lip liner and smearing on the color to create a diffused stain, much like the popsicle lip trend of summer. Pair it with thick black eyeliner or leave the rest of your face bare for major impact.
Heavy Metal. There’s no better time than now to up the shine-factor in your beauty routine. All different shades of metallic were used to highlight the eyes, lips, and cheeks at the fall shows, and we were instantly obsessed. Gold was heavy-handedly swept across eyelids, silver was applied across the lower lash line, and copper was used to create a sparkling smokey eye. Enhance your eyes and shop our shimmering shadows right this way.
Notice-Me Lashes. The focus was on lashes, lashes, and more lashes for fall. Thicker, longer, and darker is better was the major theme, a feat easily achieved at home. Try swiping on a coat of Clear Mascara first, then applying a few coats of Black Mascara, and finally finish up with another coat of clear. This will lock in moisture and give your lashes extra volume – talk about oomph.
