It’s that time of year again – the unofficial start of summer is almost here, and everyone is planning a getaway. The only downside to travel? Hours in the skies can wreak havoc on your complexion. We’ve all dealt with that dry, tight feeling on our skin while flying – recycled air is low in humidity and sucks the moisture right out of your body.
But never fear! There are plenty of steps you can take to counteract the negative effects. Follow the five tips below, and you will arrive at your destination looking radiant.
- Prep Beforehand
The night before you travel, gently exfoliate your skin with our White Seaweed Calming Cleanser and put on a Hydrating Sheet Mask. Apply our White Seaweed Healing Hand & Body Lotion, which is enriched with nourishing multi-vitamins, to your entire body. This will help keep your skin from drying out the following day.
- Eat Consciously
Drink plenty of water, and avoid foods that are high in salt, sugar, and fat – they will cause inflammation. Excessive alcohol and caffeine also have the same impact. Focus on eating healthy foods, like fruit and vegetables.
- Pack Appropriately
To stay prepared while you are on the go, keep our Sea Mineral Hydra Mist (to gently tone and remineralize your skin) and Seaweed Nourishing Moisturizer (to protect and enrich your skin) with you at all times – they are both within the allotted carry-on liquid limit for airport checkpoint security. Our Organic Cosmetic Wipes, which are drenched with hydrating and nourishing plant extracts, are also great for gently removing makeup during travel.
- Wear Minimal Makeup
No need to go beauty product free, but think about what (and how much) you put on your face. Avoid heavy foundations and powders, and opt instead for spot coverage using our water-based Concealer. Apply a more moisturizing product on your eyes, cheeks, and lips – our Multi Pot is the perfect choice for all three.
- Keep It Clean
Don’t touch your face without washing or sanitizing your hands first – the germs and excess oil on your fingers will transfer onto your skin. Avoid turning on your air vent as the recycled air circulates bacteria and causes excess dryness.
